Ingredients
4 slices bacon, chopped
10 cloves garlic, smashed
¼ cup pine nuts
6 cups chopped Swiss chard
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
Directions
HEAT a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the bacon. Cook until the just the edges are crisped, about 5 to 8 minutes.
Add the garlic and press lightly with the back of a spatula. When the garlic is lightly browned, add the pine nuts and mix well. Cook, stirring frequently, until the pine nuts are toasted, 3 to 4 minutes.
Add the chard, ¼ cup water, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine; cover and cook until the chard has just barely wilted, 3 to 4 minutes. (Be careful not to overcook the chard.)
VARIATIONS TO TRY
Substitute kale or spinach for the chard and reduce the cook time to 1 to 2 minutes.
Substitute walnuts, cashews, or slivered almonds for the pine nuts. Add 1 teaspoon ground cumin
